PC Plant Training GQA Level 1 Award in Construction Health and Safety
The GQA Level 1 Award in Construction Health and Safety is a one-day training course designed to provide essential safety knowledge for new entrants, apprentices, and laborers working on UK construction sites. Passing this qualification is a key requirement for applying for the CSCS Green Labourer Card.
Key Features
Purpose: Enables workers to understand legal rights, identify site hazards, and improve safety
Target Audience: Individuals seeking to work as site laborers.Validity: The qualification itself is valid for life, but the CSCS Card must be renewed.
Course Content & Learning Outcomes
The course covers key areas needed for a safe working environment:
Principles of Risk Assessment: Maintaining and improving health and safety.
Safe Manual Handling: Techniques to avoid injuries.
Working at Height: Identifying risks and safe practices.
Site Safety Awareness: Hazards related to plant and equipment.
Emergency Procedures: Personal protective equipment (PPE) and fire safety.
How to Obtain the Green Card
Complete the Training:
Take the GQA Level 1 Award course (approx. 6 hours).
Pass the Assessment: Pass the GQA Health & Safety test paper.
CITB Test:
Pass the separate CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.
Apply: Use the qualification to apply for the CSCS Green Card.
Course Logistics
Duration: Usually 1 day.
Delivery: Available through accredited training centers, both in-person and sometimes via remote, live-webcam invigilation.
Requirements: Participants must be 16 or older and possess basic English skills.

The course will also educate employees on how to handle a wide range of specific work-related situations, as well as teaching them cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Suitable for low-risk workplaces such as offices, shops, and libraries. Also suitable for entry requirements for SIA. Includes CPR & defibrillator training. Students will be issued an FAIB accredited first aid certificate valid for 3 years.
Level: Beginner
Length: 1 Day
Candidates will be assessed by their trainer throughout the data to ensure that all learning outcomes are achieved.
Successful learners will receive an FAIB-accredited emergency first aid at work qualification.
